ITS - Research Services hosts a two-day intensive workshop on Machine Learning and Big Data. This workshop will be led by Prof. John Urbanic from the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and will take place in a training room equipped with two-way video communication between participants and the lecturer. Please note that all participants must be at the hosting location, as there will be no option for individual remote participation via video call (e.g., Zoom). ITS-RS staff will assist participants with any technical issues and the exercises.
This workshop will focus on topics including big data analytics and machine learning with Spark, and deep learning using Tensorflow. For hands-on exercises, all participants should have an ACCESS ID (you will apply for it if you don't have it yet, as described on the registration page below) and will have access to the supercomputing facility at PSC, Bridges-2, temporarily for the exercise. Once you have an ACCESS ID, please don't forget to complete the rest of the registration process using the "University of Iowa" link. If you have any questions about the registration, please contact Tom Maiden at PSC (tmaiden@psc.edu).
Prior coding and Linux experiences are helpful but not critical to attend this workshop. Please bring your laptop and charging cable to keep connected during the workshop.
Due to the space limitation, we can only offer 20 seats for this event. (Due to high demand, we have increased the size of participants up to 60; then the location is subject to change).
Note that the workshop will begin at 10 a.m. (CST) although it is listed in Eastern Time on the registration link below.
To register, please visit this PSC link and follow the guidelines. If you need help or clarification, please feel free to contact research-computing@uiowa.edu .
