ITS - Research Services hosts a two-day intensive workshop on Machine Learning and Big Data, led by Prof. John Urbanic from the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC). The workshop will be held in a large room equipped with two-way video communication between participants and the instructor. Please note that all participants must attend in person at the hosting location, as there will be no option for individual remote participation via video call (e.g., Zoom). ITS-RS staff will be on-site to assist with any technical issues and hands-on exercises throughout the workshop.
This workshop will focus on topics including big data analytics and machine learning with Spark, and deep learning using Tensorflow. For the hands-on exercises, all participants must have an ACCESS ID. If you do not already have one, you will be prompted to apply during the registration process.
With an ACCESS account, participants will receive temporary access to PSC’s Bridges-2 supercomputing facility for the exercises. In addition, participants will be able to continue practicing on the Argon cluster at the University of Iowa after the workshop.
You will receive a confirmation email once your registration is complete. Please ensure that you receive this confirmation. Without it, your registration may not be processed, and you won't receive further communications. If you have any questions about the registration, please contact Tom Maiden at PSC (tmaiden@psc.edu).
Prior coding and Linux experiences are helpful but not critical to attend this workshop. Please bring your laptop and charging cable to keep connected during the workshop.
Note that the workshop will begin at 10 a.m. (CST) while it is listed in Eastern Time on the registration link below.
