Details about high-performance network fabric islands and other hardware

Research Services has begun integrating new hardware into the Argon cluster.

The hardware arrived and was installed in Mid-May. We have been working to integrate the systems into Argon.

We have been working with our vendor and other ITS groups to prepare for the expansion of Argon this winter. The bulk of the order was placed before the holidays and we are tentatively planning for the vendor to be onsite for the physical installation sometime near the beginning of April.

The purchasing contract for the next generation of Argon HPC hardware has been finalized. We are planning to place an initial order in late September/early October for new infrastructure, replacement/expansion of UI queues, and any initial investment desired by the HPC community.
